UC Community remembers His Honor Judge Mario Anacleto Bañez

A contingent of students and faculty from the University of the Cordilleras College of Law led by UC Law Dean Atty. Reynaldo U. Agranzamendez represented the entire UC Community in expressing its condolences to the bereaved family of His Honor Judge Mario Anacleto Bañez as they visited the late judge's wake in San Fernando, La Union on November 11, 2019.

UC and the UC-Baguio Colleges Foundation Alumni Association each offered a Php 10,000.00 Sympathy Fund to the Bañez family which was received by the late judge's wife, Aurelia Bañez.

Judge Bañez was the presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 25 in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. He obtained his Law degree from Baguio Colleges Foundation in 1994 and consequently passed the Bar Examinations in 1996. The Inquirer reports that Judge Bañez had worked for the Commission on Human Rights while studying Law in BCF.

In a Tribute for Judge Bañez, UC Chairman Jesus Benjamin Salvosa wrote, "We deeply mourn his irreparable loss & the damage & the disastrous impact to the administration of justice in our country; --- that Judge Bañez selflessly laid down & committed his life to diligently & conscientiously uphold."
