General Admission Guidelines
The University of the Cordilleras (UC) implements an open admission policy adhering to the inclusive educational philosophy of its founder – to provide educational opportunities to all who deserve it.
A. General Admission Policy
- The University admits all incoming college students into its undergraduate programs without discrimination based on academic records, standardized examination scores, gender, ethnicity, disability, special needs, religion, or political beliefs.
- Transferring and shifting students must take the examination to be administered by the Guidance and Counselling Office. The student must meet the required rating score for their chosen program.
- The True Copy of Grades (TCG) or Transcript of Records (TOR) shall be evaluated, especially in core, cognate, major, and professional courses under programs that require specific grade requirement or GWA, especially for board exam programs.
- No student shall be allowed to enroll in two (2) degree programs simultaneously within the same term or semester.
- Students who discontinue their current degree program and transfer to another is subject to the university’s shifting policy. All academic and financial requirements from the previous program must be settled prior to shifting.
- All students must follow the admission requirements set by their respective colleges.
B. Admission Guidelines
- All incoming freshmen must submit complete admission requirements to the Registrar’s Office before proceeding with enrollment.
- The Academic Dean shall conduct an initial evaluation of transferee applicants for the undergraduate program and endorse them for appraisal examination. Admission eligibility shall be determined based on the test results and the Dean’s assessment.
- Freshmen/New applicants for the College of Law, Graduate School, and all international students must be interviewed by the Academic Dean for evaluation prior to admission.
- Students who have completed a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree and wish to pursue an additional or higher degree are classified as transferees. While they are exempt from the appraisal examination, submission of all required admission documents is still mandatory.
- Cross-enrollees are admitted only for the courses and term specified in the official permit issued by their home institution. A new permit or formal approval is required for enrollment in any additional courses.
- All international students must secure clearance from the Registrar’s Office before admission.
C. Re-Admission Guidelines
- Returning students are considered re-admitted upon meeting the re-admission requirements of their respective college. Qualified students may proceed directly to their college enrollment adviser to complete their enrollment.
- Students who do not meet the college's re-admission requirements, as defined by institutional policies, may be classified under a 'conditional' status. This status allows for temporary admission, contingent upon the student fulfilling specific academic or behavioral conditions within a designated timeframe. The Academic Dean shall conduct an interview to evaluate the student's circumstances and determine eligibility for re-admission.
- International students must secure clearance from the Registrar’s Office before admission or re-admission.
- Shifters are classified as returning students and are required to follow the procedures applicable to transferees. They are evaluated by the Academic Dean and must take an appraisal examination through the Guidance and Counselling Office before enrolling.
