Programs

The program prepares its graduates to be competitive in the fields of research, law enforcement, and public safety. The program addresses the needs of the regulatory bodies and the needs of the Criminal Justice Industry where graduates are expected to be employed.

The program hones the graduates to be competent in the field of Forensic Analysis and Investigation. The courses are delivered by faculty members in their own field of specialization including international faculty members as adjunct professors.

The program is designed in the areas of Corporate Security and managing Security Operations. With the inclusion of Cybersecurity in the curriculum, graduates are expected to be adept with technology and innovations for better management of security issues and problems in the industrial setting.


Graduate Programs

The program is designed to enhance the knowledge base of graduates. It provides a better understanding of the different theories of crime and their possible application in a real-world setting. Graduates of the program ensure that they are capable of performing research in the area of interest.

The program has incorporated a course on Educational Technology. Students will be immersed in the University's Technology Business Incubation Center and be engaged in the world of design thinking, technology development, business model, pitching among others. These are intended to capacitate the graduates to be leaders in the field of criminal justice capable of addressing current challenges that require innovative solutions.

In 2008, the College of Criminal Justice Education became a center of excellence providing quality instruction and effective training that will develop a progressive education for those who are deserving and to keep abreast with the changing times and apply latest technology and modern techniques in Law Enforcement, Criminal Sociology, Criminal Law and Jurisprudence, Criminal Investigation and Detection, Public Safety Administration, Correctional Administration, Forensic Science, and Industrial Security Management.

Into the 21st century, the College of Criminal Justice Education as a center of excellence envisions itself as an institution providing quality instruction and effective training for those who are deserving; to be recognized not only in the Philippines, but in the entire Asia as a producer of the finest graduates who can ably adapt with modernization and capable of applying latest technology and modern techniques in Law, Law Enforcement Administration, Criminal Sociology, Crime Detection and Investigation, Forensic Science and Correctional Administration.

Mission

The College of Criminal Justice Education shall produce graduates who are spiritually, morally, mentally, physically, and emotionally prepared to enter the realms of Law, Law Enforcement Administration, Criminal Sociology, Crime Detection and Investigation, Forensic Science and Correctional Administration professions.

Milestones

The College of Criminal Justice Education endeavors to provide quality education to its students in Criminology, Forensic Science, and Industrial Security Management.

The following are the highlights of events that transpired throughout the years:

1986

• Bachelor of Science in Criminology was offered under the College of Arts and Sciences with 72 enrollees.

1990

• The pioneer graduates of the degree program and first successful examinees in the Licensure Examination for Criminologists were produced.

1993

• The first graduate to land in the number one spot in the Licensure Examination of Criminologists emerged.

1997

• The Criminology department was separated from the College of Arts and Sciences and became an independent College named the College of Criminology under the leadership of the late Dr. Benjamin G. Mang-usan.

2002

• With a rating of 98% in the Licensure Examination, the College was able to achieve one of its highest overall passing percentage.

2005

• By 2nd Trimester of SY 2005-2006, the College of Criminology was renamed the College of Criminal Justice Education by virtue of Academic Affairs Council Resolution No. 002, s.2005.

2007

• The College offered its first graduate program Master of Science in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology.

2008

• The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) identified and designated the University of the Cordilleras as Center of Excellence (COE) in Criminology.

2010

• The University was the only “Top Performing School” recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in April 2010.

2011

• The College was able to attain 100% passing rate for first takers.

• The University was the only “Top Performing School” recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as per Commission Resolution No. 2010-547 series of 2010.

2012

• The College obtained a commanding 100% passing rate in October 2012.

2013

• UC-CCJE mounted a record of having nine (9) topnotchers in the top places in the April 2013 Licensure Examinations namely 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, 5th place, 7th place, two (2) 9th placers and 10th place.

• In addition, the College obtained 100% passing rate.

• In January 2013, Dr. Ariel Pumecha was appointed as the Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education and became the full-time Dean until August 2020.

2015

• The College offered its second graduate program Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with specialization in Criminology.

2016

• CHED granted Center of Excellence in Criminology on March 17, 2016.

2017

• The College was granted by Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) Level III Reaccredited Status on December 15, 2017 which is valid until 2022 in accordance with Memorandum Circular Order Number 1, s.2005 of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

2018

• Bachelor of Forensic Science was offered as an additional undergraduate program of the College.

2019

• UC was awarded Plaque of Recognition by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in June 2019 Criminologists Licensure Examination with an exemplary passing performance of 100% among all participating schools, colleges and universities.

2020

• The hybrid program Bachelor of Science in Industrial Security Management with specialization in Cybersecurity was offered that focuses on corporate security and managing of security operations.
